Summer on a Shoestring

This weekend has been a quiet one, with several shoestringers on vacation in Boston. With only a few of us left, six of us set out on another hiking adventure!

The Falling Waters trail has to be one of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever been on. The entire way up, we crossed and re-crossed a creek with countless waterfalls right in front of us:

We slipped a lot on the wet rocks, but between the dogs we befriended and the upcoming summit, we powered through. As soon as we got above the tree line, we were rewarded with an absolutely incredible 360 degree view. Claudia celebrated our arrival with a handstand.

The best part of this loop is that for just one hike up, we got to see three different summits! Once we’d rested up at our first peak, Little Haystack, we headed down Franconia Ridge toward Lincoln and Lafayette peaks.

The views kept being spectacular!

On our hike back down, Shiyi twisted her ankle, but luckily Trey came to her rescue.

We may all be sore tomorrow, but it was a day well spent! It’s the beginning of what we’re all sure will be a fun-filled summer.
